Testimonials

“I have been living with mental illnesses since I was 13... hospitalized more than 10 times since I was 19. After being in therapy for the last six months, I feel more stable than I have in my whole life... I love what they have done for me.”

Shashana joined Headway in June, 2018 and has been working in human services for over 18 years. As a Family Spirit Infant Parent Support Specialist, she works with Native American families to educate, support, and empower them to bond and give hope for healthy living. She incorporates her traditional native knowledge and the Family Spirit Curriculum to the families she serves. She brings cultural and traditional Native American (in particular Ojibwe) knowledge in hopes to help to rebuild communities and future generations of native families.

Outside of work, Shashana enjoys spending time with her family in Minnesota and Missouri, attending traditional ceremonies, making moccasins and earrings, and sewing.
